Cool Junk We've Removed

  • Washing Board

This contraption was the predecessor to the washing machine as the standard way to wash clothes. It also made for great exercise!

  • Old Golf Clubs

Here are two antique golf clubs that we found recently. Made out of wood instead of the standard steel or graphite for today, these clubs are likely to be quite old. Fore!

  • Mark McGwire Rookie Card

This is a rare MLB rookie card. Mark McGwire, who broke the single-season home run record for a rookie in 1987 with 49 home runs, stands as one of the greats in MLB history. In 1998 he broke the home run record with 70, which would later be broken by Barry Bonds. After retirement, McGwire admitted to using steroids throughout his career.

  • 1914 License Plate

This Ontario license plate from 1914 is from the dawn of the auto industry. This was only 6 years after Henry Ford's "Model T" was produced!

  • 296-Year-Old Book

Published in 1714, this book, which is still in amazing condition, was written by Thomas Fuller M.D. and is titled "Pharmacopoeia Extemporanea" (this is the shortened title; the whole title could be a book itself). Interesting fact:  this book was initially written in Latin and was translated by the author into English.

  • 1960s Italian-Made Accordion

This beautiful instrument was hand crafted in Italy sometime during the 1960s. The keys are made of mother of pearl - clearly a lot of love went into this piece.

  • Book Published in 1928

We found this book, entitled "Little Journeys to the Homes of the Great Vol. 3", amid a removal we did recently. The book was authored by Elbert Hubbard (1856 - 1915), an accomplished writer, artist, and philosopher.

This volume portrays the biographies of certain American statesmen, including one George Washington.

  • Swords

We recently uncovered two old swords, complete with scabbards, while doing a removal. Despite their age, we still had to be careful - the edge of each blade was still sharp!

  • Before/After: Huge Pile of Concrete!

This extreme removal of concrete and construction rubble was intense, to say the least! The pile that you see in the photo roughly weighs 6,000 pounds. Our diligent JustJunk.com representative provided the best service possible - note the sweeping up afterward!

  • Before/After: 6000 lbs of Asphalt

Continuing our series of before/after junk removal photos, here is an asphalt removal. This particular pile of asphalt weighed in at approximately 6,000 lbs - the rough equivalent of 3 tons! To put that into perspective, that is the weight of a small car.

As always, we left the area free of junk and looking fresh!

  • World War II Tank Shells

These tank shells from World War II were recently unearthed in one of our junk removal jobs.

As always, feel free to share this incredible find with your friends below!

  • Bombs Away!

This is an explosive find. What we have here appears to be a bomb from the World War II era, mysteriously left to sit in a basement until the end of time (or rather, until we found it).

  • Thomas Edison Phonograph

Patented by Thomas Edison, this phonograph was one of several versions invented in the 19th century. This early predecessor to the iPod gave society's elite a privilege they had been waiting for:  the ability to listen to recorded music.

  • Toilet Seat Art

An impressive piece of art done on the top of a toilet seat. What could be more welcoming?

  • Antique Shoe Shining Kit

This amazing antique shoe shining kit was hand crafted for the gentleman of yesteryear. Note the two brushes intended for buffering shoes until you could see your reflection.

  • Retro Coca-Cola Cooler

Manufactured in 1955 in St. Thomas, Ontario, this Coca-Cola cooler is a unique look into the past through one of the world's most recognized brands.

  • Old Fashioned Iron

Unlike today, where we use electric irons that emit steam, this old fashioned iron used coal to generate heat. Just pop the lid open, drop the coal in (don't burn your hands!), and watch your velveteen breeches become wrinkle-free!

  • Handmade Tin Can Antique Airplane

This was a spectacular find:  an antique model airplane, handmade from tin cans. It's quite clear how much attention to detail the craftsman had - little windows, tires, and even the red cross of a medic airplane.

  • War Medals

What follows is a great story.

We were doing a job for a customer as he was doing the final clean out of his house prior to moving. We loaded up the usual items - a couch, mattress, bags of garbage - and nothing appeared out of the norm. We completed the job and headed on our way.

  • Mannequins

We managed to find some lovely mannequins from a local retail store. Here they are, socializing as we take them away to a better place, recycled into a new life.
