The Just Junk Story
After graduating with an Economics degree from Queens University, Mike Thorne
received a management position with one of Canada's largest corporations in
Toronto, Canada.
In 2003 while gazing out into a sea of cubicles trying
to figure out how to remove old office equipment from his floor of his building,
he had an epiphany. He realized everything in this world would one day need to
be removed and disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. With no
time to waste Mike left his well paying job and life in Toronto and moved back
to his hometown of St. Catharines, ON.
He started where everyone else
does, right at the bottom with a $500 used van and virtually no start up
capital. He did however have a vision to one day create a brand and franchise
model that would compete with the best. After placing a small classified ad his
hunch was right. Everyone had junk! He quickly became junkman by day and
business man by night, marketing, hiring and systemizing every aspect of the
business model into the early hours of the morning.
Thorne's
entrepreneurial spirit was strong, strong enough to ignore his friends and
family who we're understandably, a little leery of his new found dream of
becoming a professional junk hauler.
By 2006 Just Junk had received
numerous business awards including new business of the year and had removed junk
from close to 10 000 residents across Southern Ontario.
By 2007 after
turning down multiple franchise prospects Just Junk Franchising Corporation
found the right man in Don Freeman to spearhead the first franchise in Hamilton.
Mike Thorne has succeeded at creating a brand with enormous staying power.
Just Junk is regarded as the industry leader and the most recognized
brand in the cities they service. For a young company this is only the
beginning. Just Junk is presently entertaining countless franchise inquiries
from across Canada and the US.
